Believe It or Not

Baby Civilization is still in diapers:
 crawling crazy silly as Baby
Buddha and Baby Ganesh once did.

What sound
makes Baby
Civilization
stop that blindfolded crawl
and listen?

It’s the
muffled
cry
of a poetry book
quickly
closed,

because the reader
must dash
to  answer
the call
of a skylark
who needs a kind word
before takeoff.

That book
is not
forgotten.

That book
will be opened
again.

Hey, Baby Civilization
should be burped.
Will you help me?
It takes more than
one to do it.
